This is to announce the official launch of the Nipissing Arts Council. The Nipissing Arts Council was created to support and advocate for arts of all disciplines within the Nipissing District. As the Chairperson, I believe the Nipissing District has a lot to offer when it comes to the arts and we are hoping to help promote our region’s talent.

We have recently brought our website online at www.nipissingartscouncil.com and we hope that it will become a resource for artists, arts organizations, and the community to connect with what is happening in the area.
We are looking forward to connecting with you!

This past weekend I participated in the first annual Mattawa Blues and Arts Festival. I truly enjoyed meeting my fellow local artists and listening to the great blues bands.

Tent Setup at the Mattawa Blues and Arts Festival 2010
This was my first opportunity to visit Mattawa and I was stunned at just how beautiful it is. The Festival was held on Explorer’s Point where the Mattawa and Ottawa river meet. Saying it was picturesque would be an understatement.
The event was very well organized and everyone was helpful and welcoming. It seems to me that this festival in its first year proved its potential and will just get better with time. I will look forward to next year!

I am thrilled to have been awarded an Honourable Mention in Drawing at the 49th Annual Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. You can find a complete list of all the award winners here.

Dual (Senna), 2010
This year I exhibited a series of large-scale charcoal drawings on paper. This series, entitled “Dual” playfully contemplates ideas surrounding cohabitation and seeing ourselves mirrored in another through depictions of two-headed northern creatures. These drawings were additionally motivated by my recent relocation to Northern Ontario.
